Enjoying a trip to Mallorca may be aimed at disconnecting from the stress and hustle and bustle of everyday life. However, a trip to this island has much more to offer. For example, we must mention the beauty of its cities, with their incredible historical heritage, its landscapes of pristine natural beauty.
But neither should we forget that Mallorca is an island with beautiful coasts and countless stunning beaches and coves that should not be missing in your itinerary when visiting this paradisiacal land. Not all of them are easily accessible without a car, so it is not advisable to visit those that are too far away, as you will lose an important part of your valuable holiday time spent on this island.
Therefore, we recommend you to take out a pen and paper to write down the best beaches in Mallorca that you can reach by car. You can rent our cars from the airport and enjoy them during your stay in Mallorca. This way, you will be able to park comfortably near the best beaches of Mallorca and its coves. This way, you can enjoy a quiet and practically solitary time on the sand while you sunbathe and enjoy your trip to the fullest. So pay attention, here they are:
Cala de Mondragó
This small beach is located in the Mondragó Natural Park itself. Its appearance is undoubtedly paradisiacal and, on a fine day, its waters are very shallow, of a very intense turquoise blue colour. It is surrounded by a beautiful landscape of cliffs, pine trees and dunes. It is accessible by road from Palma de Mallorca and is only an hour’s drive away.
It has a fairly complete quality of services, as you can eat in a beach bar and a restaurant that are very close to it. It also has a free parking area in Ses Fonts de n’Alis, less than 300 metres from the sea. In the low season it is usually very quiet and hardly crowded, although in the low season it can get quite crowded.
Playa de S’Amarador
This beach is located in the Cala de S’Amarador, just 5 minutes’ walk from the beach of Mondragó, which is just opposite. For this reason, the appearance of the surroundings and the characteristics of both beaches are very similar. Undoubtedly, it is a paradisiacal spot that you cannot miss. However, in high season it tends to be quite gentrified, so if you are looking for a quiet beach in summer, it is better to look for another one or visit this little paradise in low season.
As for access, it can be reached by car in just one hour from Mallorca and has a pay car park. For this reason, we recommend you park in the Cala Mondragó car park and walk from there, as it is only a 5-minute walk away. We have no doubt that this is one of the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca.
Cala d’Or
If you are thinking of taking a route around the best coves in Mallorca, Cala d’Or is undoubtedly one of them. Although it is called Cala d’Or, you will actually find three different coves: Llonga, Gran and Petita. It is actually a tourist area located on the southeast coast of the island itself.
It is known for its port and for having an urbanised area full of luxury houses and villas designed for enjoying a good holiday on the shores of the Mediterranean. This cove, which is considered to contain some of the best beaches in Mallorca, can be reached from the capital in just over an hour’s drive along the Ma-19 road.
Playa de Cala Gat
This is one of the furthest beaches from Palma de Mallorca, considered to be one of the most representative coves on the island. Surrounded by lush Mediterranean vegetation, it offers a paradisiacal aspect that contrasts with the turquoise blue tones of its shallow waters. If you are looking for a beautiful beach in Mallorca, we have no doubt that Cala Gat will meet all your expectations.
It is more than 40 metres long and its sand is more than 20 metres wide and offers plenty of shady areas that protect you from the heat thanks to its vegetation. This area of the island is not accessible if you depend on public transport, but it can be easily reached by car from Palma de Mallorca along the Ma-15 road. We consider it to be one of the best beaches in Mallorca, although it has the disadvantage of being too gentrified during the high season.
Playa de Cala Agulla
Relatively close to Cala Gat, a little further north on the island, we can find Cala Agulla beach. It has the privilege of being one of the beaches in Mallorca with a Blue Flag, which means that it is considered one of the cleanest and most environmentally friendly beaches on the island. It is also one of the largest beaches on the island, with its impressive 525 metres in length. Its waters are crystal-clear and transparent, as well as quite safe, since, as a general rule, there are not usually excessive waves.
As a peculiarity, it is easily accessible by car, about an hour and a half from Palma de Mallorca, and it offers a wide range of activities. In fact, in Cala Agulla you can practice different water and non-water sports. It tends to have quite a family atmosphere and, like the rest of the coves, it tends to get quite crowded during the high season in summer. However, if you want to enjoy all its beauty and you don’t mind not bathing, you can go in the low season and enjoy the tranquillity of its landscape. For all these reasons, we have saved it for last, as we believe it is the best beach in Mallorca.
Playa de Ca’n Pere Antoni
If you are looking for the best beach in Palma de Mallorca, you have the option of enjoying the beach of Ca’n Pere Antoni on the coast of the city itself. This is the beach that is closest to the centre of the capital and has two large parking areas. It tends to be quite gentrified, although it is mostly frequented by the locals themselves. You can find accommodation quite close by, as well as good restaurants where you can enjoy the best typical Mallorcan food.
There are many other beaches in Mallorca that are perfectly accessible by car. For this reason, we recommend you to opt for Autos Mallorca, a rent a car in the capital itself. This way, you will be able to access the best beaches on the island without any restrictions. We hope you have made a note of the paradisiacal spots we have mentioned so that you can visit them during your next holiday.
